On 14 August 1980 the strike wave in the Lenin shipyard in Gdansk evolved into a bloodless national uprising - a miracle of the beginning of the fall of the communist system first in Poland and then in the entire Central-Eastern Europe, including the Soviet Union. Today very few people remember that the uprising was preceded by a wave of strikes in the Lublin province, and was initiated by the Transport Equipment Plant in Swidnik. »

The main ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau began with a train whistle on the railway track. Over 40 delegations of countries from all over the world participated in the anniversary in Brzezinka. »
