President elect Andrzej Duda received an act of election for the president of the Polish Republic on 29 May 2015. The ceremony was held in the White Hall of the palace in Wilanów.

The certificate about election was given on behalf of the National Electoral Commission by the chairperson Wojciech Hermeliński, who emphasized that according to the constitution, the president is the supreme representative of the Polish Republic and a guarantee of continuity of the state authority. He also reminded that Andrzej Duda had represented the late president Lech Kaczyński in court cases towards the Constitutional Tribunal. In the opinion of the chairperson of the National Electoral Commission, the present attitude of Andrzej Duda proved that he is ‘a man and a lawyer with a good opinion’.

The president elect thanked Poles for electing him for this post and assured that he understood his vocation as service to the whole nation. Addressing his appeal to politicians, he said:

– I would like to ask politicians to maintain seriousness in parliamentary and governmental works in this transitory period and not to make any serious changes of the system nor such changes which may raise emotions and cause conflicts.
