WHEN A CZECH MAN IS A POLE

LIDIA DUDKIEWICZ, THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF ‘NIEDZIELA’

We have had great emotions related to the recent debate on Poland in the European Parliament. Finally, it is not Poland which got onto the carpet in Strasburg. For, there was a critical judgment of the EU institutions – the ones which our government was supposed to judge in relation to the signals that in Poland democracy is allegedly endangered. Finally, we were witnesses of the clash of two visions of Europe: the Polish prime minister Beata Szydło represented Europe of sovereign and solidarity countries, whereas the European Commission showed that it wanted to make this sovereignty dependent on its commissioners.

Fr. Prof. Czesław S. Bartnik, always explaining the base of various social-political turmoils in a right way, on pages of ‘Nasz Dziennik’ (‘Our Journal’, no. 18/2016) notes that a big danger for us is betrayal of Homeland for the sake of an anonymous country of Europe by some Polish political groups or single villainous politicians, who are participating in the attack on Poland, their mother. Such a behaiour, including sings of betrayal, unfortunately, are already known in our history. The euro-deputy, writing on pages of ‘Niedziela’ (‘Sunday’) expresses his opinion that Polish politicians, who have experienced their political parties’ failure in the recent election, after their moving to Brussels, want to supervise or lay censorship on the new Polish authorities from there. In the opinion of Fr. Prof. Bartnik, ‘atheizing politicians, both in the west and in Poland, are irritated by our president, government and most MPs’ religiousness expressed publicly’. They do not want to agree to the fact that Catholics in Poland can govern independently.

There is no doubt that the prime minister Beata Szydło won a victory in the European Parliament on 19 January 2016. Whereas she went there in order to plead against accusations addressed against her government. Whereas, she began a lava of criticism addressed not against Poland, but EU institutions. The prime minister, first of all, opened euro-politicians’ eyes to real problems with which Europe must deal with. The most serious problem are the consequences of supporting the Muslim migration. The security of Europe inhabitants has already been endangered, which was clearly revealed on the New Year’s Night during the assault on women in Germany by foreigners, but not only there. For example, the Swedish police – in the opinion of a newspaper in Sweden – keeps information in secret about crime related to refugees in their country. These facts are already alarming.

The Polish Radio in Brussels informs informally that the main political groups in the European Parliament have a feeling of the failure after the debate about Poland. They do not want such debates in the future, as it is ammunition for euro-sceptics. In addition, the debate strengthened the Polish government. After all, it caused a situation in which the Czech euro-deputy Petr Mach spoke in the plenary hall of the European Parliament, showing his support for Poland: ‘I am a Pole’. This significant form of objection in relation to the scandalous attempt of European officials to interfere in the inner issues of the souvereign Polish country. The prime minister of the government Beata Szydło impressed on euro-deputies. So, we have the politician of the world class. Today the political leader of Europe lives in Poland.
