On the day before the 69th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, the Holy Mass celebrated at the monument commemorating the heroic uprising of the inhabitants of the capital city, was presided over by the apostolic nuncio in Poland archbishop Celestino Migliore. The Holy Mass was concelebrated by: bishop of Wasrsaw-Prague archbishop Henryk Hoser, the military bishop of the Polish Army Józef Guzdek, the auxiliary bishop of Warsaw Tadeusz Pikus.

In the homily, archbishop Migliore said that the Warsaw Uprising, although tragic and destructive, it was a very important and symbolic event for the history of this great Polish nation.

– We arrived at this Holy Mass because it is being celebrated on the anniversary of the event which grabs the heart of every woman and every man: patriotism, homeland love, attachment to important truths and values, creative faithfulness to life philosophy, which makes both individuals and the Polish community feel a fulfilled national community – stated archbishop Migliore and he added that the celebration of the Eucharist on the day before, reminds about the need of the righteous and creative look at the man who lives in relation to God.
