STATEMENT OF THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE POLISH EPISCOPAL CONFERENCE ON GRANTING LICENSE TO TELEVISION ‘TRWAM’ ON DIGITAL MULTIPLEX

The Permanent Council of the Polish Episcopal Conference insistently appeals for the change in decision by the National Broadcasting Council in this lasting concession process and granting concession on the digital multiplex to Television ‘Trwam’. The exclusion of the station of religious character in this concession process breaches the rule of pluralism and equality towards the law, especially that the majority of the inhabitants of our country are Catholics who should have a guaranteed free access to the programs of the Television ‘Trwam’ in the ground-based system of the digital television. It is also expected by many receivers, including many ill and lonely people.
We hope that the Television ‘Trwam’ – which has been broadcasting for over eight years and proves financial stability – will be included in the system of the digital television in Poland.
